Back on Feb. 10th, Garfield County, Utah, became a Second Amendment Sanctuary with little notice or fanfare. The ordinance has teeth, which many ordinances and resolutions across the country don't have. Beaver County mentioned a vote on sanctuary status during their Feb. 18th meeting, but only the agenda is available. The minutes are not available for download and any news source confirming a vote has not been located. Utah County (that's the county, not a county in Utah), home to BYU in Provo joins rural Uintah County as the Beehive State's second Second Amendment Sanctuary. Provo is a very urban county and is just south of Salt Lake. That an urban county would join the movement is a very good sign for the progress of the sanctuary movement. County commissioners have passed a resolution that does not seem to have the anti-enforcement criminal penalties for gun control that Uintah County passed. |
